Monroe County shall maintain a comprehensive land acquisition program and smart growth
initiatives in conjunction with its Livable CommuniKeys Program in a manner that recognizes
the finite capacity for new development in the Florida Keys by providing economic
and housing opportunities for residents without compromising the biodiversity of the
natural environment and the continued ability of the natural and man-made systems
to sustain livable communities in the Florida Keys for future generations.
